Fellow Members,

We owe our achievements in the past year to the firm leadership of the CPC

Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, to the strong support of
CPC committees and governments at all levels and all sectors of society, and to the
concerted efforts of the participating organizations of the CPPCC, its committees at

all levels, and their members and bodies. On behalf of the Standing Committee, I
wish to express our sincere gratitude to all of them.

At the same time, we must be soberly aware that there is still room for
improvement in the CPPCC work. Greater efforts need to be made to implement
the guiding principles of the Central Conference on CPPCC Work. Our capacity for

consultation and consensus building needs to be enhanced. Ways of exercising
consultative oversight need to be further explored. We must take solid steps to

address these issues in our future work.

II. Tasks for 2021: Playing Our Part in Making a Good Start to

the 14th Five-Year Plan

In 2021, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and

embark on a new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects. The
CPPCC will:
 follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese

Characteristics for a New Era;
 fully implement all guiding principles from the CPC’s 19th National

Congress and the 19th CPC Central Committee’s 2nd through 5th plenary
sessions;
 ground our efforts in the new stage of development, put into practice the

new development philosophy, and create a new development pattern;
 uphold the themes of unity and democracy;

 focus on ensuring the implementation of the CPC Central Committee’s
major policies, decisions, and plans;

 offer suggestions on state affairs and build consensus;
 maintain high-standards in the performance of our duties to promote

high-quality development;
